Perfect for SE, S, and SW winds, Jaques Beach is good for foiling, winging, and windsurfing. There are shallow spots on the east side, so if you’re foiling, avoid it. This spot offers consistent wind in most mentioned directions and has free parking on the side of the road.

2. Jetty Park

  • Contact: Phone: (321) 783-7111, Email: jpreservations@portcanaveral.com

Located in Cape Canaveral and directly facing the ocean, Jetty Park is perfect for various water activities, making it an ideal destination for starting ocean riding. The jetty itself and the shallow waters make it easier for new riders in the ocean, especially protecting on north winds. The nature of the beach location on the cape makes NE winds work well. Keep in mind that the jetty’s beach has 50% smaller waves on bigger size days compared to other locations in Cocoa Beach/Satellite Beach. This can be a pro or con, depending on what you’re looking for. Amenities include restrooms and showers. Parking is 15foradayor15foradayor25 annually for Brevard residents.

3. 520 Slick

  • Best Wind Directions: E, SE, S, SW, sometimes W
  • Water Sports: Windsurfing, Kitesurfing
  • Good for Foiling: No
  • Beginner-Friendly: Yes
  • Other Info: Shallow waters, sometimes seaweed. Free parking.
  • Phrase: “Shallow waters perfect for windsurfing and kitesurfing with free parking.”
  • Address: Merritt Island, FL

Popular among kite surfers for its place to make the lines, 520 Slick is a good spot with shallow water, although it’s not suitable for foiling. It’s great for windsurfing and kitesurfing, although sometimes there is seaweed, and the water smells at the entrance, which makes it not my favorite spot. Works on E, SE, S, and sometimes W winds.

520 Hospital

  • Best Wind Directions: N, NW, NE, sometimes W
  • Water Sports: Windsurfing, Winging, Foiling, Expert Kitesurfing
  • Good for Foiling: Yes
  • Beginner-Friendly: No

  • Phrase: “Deep waters and roadside parking enhance the windsurfing and foiling experience.”
  • Address: North Side of Hwy 520, Merritt Island, FL

Found on the north side of Highway 520 (opposite from the Slick), this location is great for N, NW, NE, and sometimes W winds. The spot offers deep enough waters for foiling, but you need to walk out about 100 ft for it. Roadside parking is available. It’s another good place for windsurfing, winging, and foiling, and expert kitesurfers can manage the entrance to the water as well.

4. Mini Bonaire

  • Best Wind Directions: NNW, N, NE, E
  • Water Sports: Windsurfing, Kitesurfing

  • Other Info: Quiet spot, clear water, limited parking.
  • Phrase: “Quiet spot with clean water, perfect for windsurfing and kitesurfing.”
  • Coordinates: 28.20916, -80.63716

This shallow flatwater spot is good for NNW, N, NE, and E winds, but no foiling. It’s beginner-friendly for windsurfing and works great for kitesurfing but be aware of the gear setup because there’s not a lot of room. It’s a very quiet spot with mostly clean, clear water. Limited parking is available on the side of the road.

5. Riverview Park, Melbourne

  • Water Sports: Windsurfing, Kitesurfing

  • Other Info: Large grassy area for setup. Free parking.
  • Phrase: “Beginner-friendly with large grassy areas and free parking.”
  • Address: 2421 Riverview Dr, Melbourne, FL 32901

Another spot in Melbourne for windsurfing and kitesurfing, only and beginner-friendly. No foiling in this spot. The large grass area offers plenty of room for kitesurfing setup, and it is a great spot for beginners. Be aware to keep an eye on your stuff, especially at night. Free parking is available.

6. Cherie Down Park

  • Best Wind Directions: N, NE, S, SE
  • Water Sports: Foiling, Winging, Windsurfing, Kitesurfing, Prone Foiling, Surfing, Downwinding

8. Kelly Park

  • Water Sports: Foiling, Winging, Windsurfing, Kitesurfing
  • Good for Foiling: Yes (but avoid shallow southern area)
  • Beginner-Friendly: Yes, but advanced kitesurfing suggested
  • Other Info: Long, easy beach for launching. Free parking.
  • Phrase: “Shallow water paradise for windsurfing and kitesurfing with long, easy beach launch.”
  • Address: 2504-2526 N Banana River Dr, Merritt Island, FL 32952

Kelly Park is a popular spot known for its water sports activities, making it a great place for foiling, winging, windsurfing, and kitesurfing for those who have good kite control and can travel longer distances with the kite out of the water. Be aware of the channel, and if you’re foiling, there is a shallow area in the southern part of the channel closer to the beach, which makes it a windsurfing and kitesurfing shallow water paradise. Long, easy beach for launching. Free parking.

9. Lori Wilson Park

10. Rotary Park at Suntree – “Wingtown”

  • Best Wind Directions: N, NE, NW
  • Water Sports: Wind Foiling, Winging
  • Good for Foiling: Yes

  • Phrase: “Deep waters make this the perfect spot for foiling and winging enthusiasts.”
  • Address: 6495 US-1, Rockledge, FL 32955

This riverside park offers ample opportunities for water sports enthusiasts. The deep waters make it a great spot for wind foiling and winging, but there’s no room for kitesurfing. If you are a beginner windsurfer who needs shallow waters, this spot isn’t for you yet.

11. Joe’s Corner

  • Best Wind Directions: SE
  • Water Sports: Windsurfing, Kitesurfing
  • Good for Foiling: On the deep areas
  • Beginner-Friendly: No
  • Other Info: Rocks near the boat ramp.
  • Phrase: “Quick depth changes and rocky areas make this spot challenging.”
  • Address: N US Hwy 1, Melbourne, FL 32940

Ideal for SE winds, this spot has rocks near the boat ramp and quick depth changes off the beach, which makes it not my favorite spot.

12. Officer’s Club

  • Best Wind Directions: N, NE, S, SE
  • Water Sports: Foiling, Winging, Windsurfing, Prone Foiling, Surfing, Downwinding
  • Good for Foiling: Yes
  • Beginner-Friendly: No
  • Other Info: Free parking, power showers. Kitesurfing not allowed.
  • Phrase: “My favorite prone foiling spot with great sandbars and free parking.”
  • Address: Patrick Space Force Base, FL 32925

This oceanfront location provides great sandbars, working best closer to low tide. Free parking and power showers are available. It’s a great spot for foiling, winging, windsurfing, prone foiling, and surfing. Kitesurfing is not allowed due to its proximity to the Space Force Patrick Base. There are a few small rocks on the south side of the beach entrance, which is only a problem if you’re foiling close to the beach. My favorite prone foiling spot.

13. Eau Gallie Boat Ramp

  • Best Wind Directions: S, SE, SW
  • Water Sports: Foiling, Windsurfing, Kitesurfing
  • Good for Foiling: Yes
  • Beginner-Friendly: No

  • Address: Boat Launch, Eau Gallie Causeway, 41 E Eau Gallie Blvd, Melbourne, FL 32937

This spot offers good conditions for S, SE, and SW winds. The area has deep waters suitable for foiling, though it’s not the easiest place to launch from because starting is from the boat launching spot. Free parking is available.
