Goya Carrera 5 Carbon

Freecarve.

This is not a Blue Volar, and it does not have centered or entry-level insert options. This is the All-New Carrera 5 Carbon, a Raceboard with a FreeWave deck that connects the entire sole of your foot to the deck below. Paired with a race rocker and cut-outs, nothing stops you from flying at max speed with the confidence over chop and open ocean swells that you only felt on your wave board—built like a race board, still strong to handle all the excitement.

The all-new Carrera 5 Carbon combines our latest Race and Freewave design knowledge, fusing speed, limitless range, and ultimate comfort over extreme chop into a single shape. It is exceptionally light, responsive, and exhilarating to ride, and it will keep you out there having the most fun you’ve ever had windsurfing.

Slanted Single inserts seamlessly link the Outboard to Inboard footstraps, allowing you to tailor your stance from rail-trimming speed runs to more relaxed inboard freeriding.

Each size comes with the New MFC® Liquid Pro Fin, Footstraps, and our KT Single-to-Dual Density Pads—sloped and segmented for reduced drag, premium grip, and shock absorption.

Feeling.

Step on the new Carrera 5 Carbon, and you’ll wonder if it was custom-built for you. From the first moments on the water, it’s easy to accelerate and release onto a plane. Once powered up, the board sits high, flies effortlessly over chop, open ocean, and surf, staying perfectly trimmed and gliding through lulls. When you are ready to jibe, the refined outline, dome deck, and wave-inspired rail taper give you the confidence to push harder and exit faster than you came in. The result is an exhilarating ride across all conditions.

Construction.

We re-engineered our build process around a continuous layering of Biaxial, Unidirectional, and Plain Weave carbon, creating a Carbon Monocoque™ that integrates the mast track, stance area, rails, and bottom into a single cohesive structure—free of excess patches or fillers. Combined with a full S-Glass and Hyper Skin™ full Top & Bottom Sandwich layout, the result is a lighter, stronger board—identical in quality to our Maui customs since 1994.

Inserts.

Francisco Goya on riding the new inserts:

“Intermediate to advanced in one session. Start by setting the footstraps forward and more towards the center of the board. Place the strap screw in the side hole—not the center—and open the straps a bit wider than usual to make it easier to slip in.

From there, you can gradually move the straps further back and closer to the rail, eventually using the center hole or even the opposite side hole to shift your stance fully over the rail. Once you’re comfortable trimming your ride from that position, you’ll quickly see the difference—and likely won’t want to go back.

That’s exactly why advanced riders choose to ride there. Positioning your feet closer to the rail gives you greater control and allows you to engage the leeward rail and fin with much more efficiency. The result: faster speeds, longer sessions, and a smoother, more powerful ride with less effort.”

Speed.

Fusing Speed, Limitless Range, and Ultimate Comfort into a Single Shape. An Exceptionally Light, Responsive, and Durable Ride.

Shape.

Shorter Length & Optimized Volume: This generation is approximately 2 cm shorter than the previous generation. With a higher entry, more volume is placed right under the rider, delivering an intuitive ride.

Agility.

Record Crossings Speeds, Fastest Jibes, still as Comfortable as a Wave Board.

Highlights

Function and form.

Bottom

Refined Race Bottom: A blend of V and double concaves under the mast track (Direct from our Racing boards) breaks down chop for a smoother ride. The shallower V off the tail cut-outs ensures clean water release and top-end speed. A new, higher entry, paired with V and double concave through the midsection of the board, tapering to a faster, shallower V of the tail.

Deck

Domed Deck: It keeps your feet 100% connected, offering a neutral riding position on straight lines or while jibing.

Rocker

Race Rocker Line & Cut-Outs.

Rails

Round and forgiving at the front, tapering to a sharp edge at the back.

Stance

Simplified, lighter, and ready to plug and play—the Magical Freecarve/Freeride Geometry. Our new flatwater boards are being optimized with inserts positioned at a refined angle to create more functional stance options, including positions that bridge the gap between being too far in or too far out. This streamlined approach reduces added insert weight and perforations, making the boards lighter and stronger while maintaining the versatility you need.

Tail

Wider Tail & Parallel Rail Line: A slightly wider tail and straighter rail line further maximizes planing efficiency.

Inserts.

The Carrera 5 features a single-angle insert that accommodates both Outboard (Advance) and Inboard (Intermediate) positions. This design allows riders to shift forward for a more centered stance or further back for increased leverage on the rail. By reducing the number of perforations and insets, we’re keeping the board lighter, stronger, and simpler to set up while offering versatility for different riding styles and skill levels.

Compared Carrera vs. Volar.

If you’re a more advanced rider craving a narrower outline that lets you rail harder and jibe more aggressively, and you won’t need center inserts, choose the Carrera over the more forgiving, wider Volar.

Compared Carrera vs. Bolt.

The Carrera offers a smoother ride over harsh chop, surf, and open-ocean crossings through its dommier deck. In contrast, the Bolt is a dedicated Freerace board, designed primarily for riding on rail by leveraging the fin
